Can I Prepare My Own Claim?Yes you can. Be prepared to document all aspects of your loss, try to understand the insurance policy you purchased and follow through with the agent and the company. However, if your loss is significant (more than $10,000) you should consider hiring a public adjuster to make sure you are properly represented. Remember, the insurance company has their own insurance professional expert representing them. Shouldn't you have professional representation too?

How Do Public Adjusters Get Paid? All Florida Insurance Adjusters works on a contingency basis. This means that we don’t get paid until you do. Public Adjusters charge a percentage (Usually between 10-20%) of the net settlement of the claim, which is established at the very beginning of the claims process. We are then paid after the claim is settled, upon you receiving payment of your entitled proceeds. If we cannot achieve a settlement for you, we do not charge you for our services.

When Is The Right Time To Hire Public Adjuster? The best answer is as quickly as possible and as soon as the damage occurred, allowing us to set the narrative from the very beginning and control the claim process by guiding the insured from the emergency mitigation through to recovery. While it's in the best interest of an insured to hire a public adjuster from the start, it may be imperative that a public adjuster is retained after a claim has been denied or when an insurance payment is far lower than expected. Other indicators that it may be time to hire a public adjuster are when there are conflicting coverage issues, such as a flood insurer claiming wind damage and a wind insurer claiming flood damage, or when there are communication issues with insurers who are not responding or providing timely information. Or when an insured is just generally frustrated and overwhelmed with the process. We're here to be your advocate. If you find yourself in any of these situations, please call us.
